We are ready for the HOLIDAYS

We have been busy decorating the shop and bringing out special goodies for all of you!  We have chosen numerous items in bronze, gold, and metalic tones...combined with vintage Carnival Glass as our Christmas statement.  Metallics are big in home decor...so why not be on trend with your holiday decorating while keeping new and old mixed!  As always we have a great selection of bar items...and many entertaining and gift ideas.  Remember we are a small shop without  large quantities of new items..and have many hard to find vintage pieces--so shopping early will guarantee a better selection.  Come see us .  We'd love to be a part of your Christmas shopping.

Antique Heywood Wakefield Cart

This Heywood Wakefield reed and rattan cart is from 1908.  It has been painted black and is ready to serve up your best holiday beverages!  There is a large removable glass tray on top..and a smaller one beneath.  This is truly a part of history, and comes with documentation.  It would look good with most any decor.

Lamps......

We have many styles of lamps in the shop.  This one--actually a pair--is one of our more unique finds.  From the 1950's these have original shades and are the atomic style that was popular.  Lamps are a good way to introduce a vintage element into a basic decor.  They can be functional conversation pieces.  Our lamps in the shop are of many styles...ceramic, metal, glass, and wood --and are all of good quality.

We hope you will check out our facebook page...where we share many photos of current merchandise in the shop.  We are open T-Sat  12-6 and Sun 1-5--other times by appointment.  Each first Saturday we stay open til 10pm for the district gallery hop.  People like the presentation of our shop...so coming in is really the best way to experience it.  We carry some locally designed jewelry made from vintage finds...as well as a selection of sterling silver and stone pieces.  And...we offer design consultation for those in need.

Autumn is Coming

Yes before we know it we will be spending a lot more time indoors.......So now is the time to spruce up your home interiors by rearranging furniture or accessory placement, repurposing items, painting, or purchasing new items.  Think about what you will be doing...entertaining?  family get togethers? formal affairs?...and  focus on making your interior space the best it can be for whatever your lifestyle.  Changing a room color can be a relatively quick and inexpensive way to refresh a look.  Seeing how certain pieces can have multiple uses will help "repurpose" existing items.  Maybe a library table or large desk could function as a server or table for a party. Perhaps you need a new lamp...or pillows...a tray... or need a chair reupholstered.  Remember that your space can take on a new look with only minor changes.  T. David Collection is here for you...to get ideas, to find the item you need, or to help you with decorating dilemmas.

New Item in Shop

This beautiful piece is a vintage, probably 1940s, cabinet with doors on top and drawers below.  It is painted black and has Japanned styling.  Not imposing--the piece is about 5 feet tall, and would work well in dining room, bar, or bedroom.  It has a great patina that gives it the perfect richness and wear.

Martini Time

These are great looking martini glasses...with frosted etched designs circling the glass.  We also have a different size which would be great as a champagne flute.  A drink seems to taste better when served in a wonderful glass.  We have a nice selection of glasses and decanters to complete your at home bar!  And...gift giving season is soon to be upon us.

Rise and Shine

Cake stands or pedestals are quite a fun thing to use for entertaining.  Not just for cakes--they can give elevation to a table set up and visually be quite effective.  Think about using for cheeses, appetizers, finger sandwiches....and of course desserts like cookies, candies, and cakes.  Using multiple pedestals can be very attractive and give a tablescape the variation it needs along with regular plates and serving pieces.  Even candles can be attractively grouped on these versatile items.  There are a variety of glass ones around.  The one in the photo is an exceptional one we have at the shop.  Sometimes colored glass or ceramic ones can be found.  These could be chosen to coordinate with existing serving pieces.  Sometimes, depending on the edge of the plate, a larger plate or charger can be placed on top to increase the serving surface.  With the entertaining season soon to arrive......think about cake plates and how you might incorporate them!

Decanters

There are so many beautiful and unusual decanters in the shop....it is hard to pick a favorite.  Some are old some are new. The one pictured is a modern twist on the ships decanter.  It is vintage, and has a silver plate collar around the neck.  The glass is pebbled.  Decanters make such a statement when displayed in groups...either with liquor or without.  We also have labels to use around the decanters to show what spirit is inside.  They add a touch of elegance in silver plate.  Sometimes is is difficult to distinquish between certain alcohols...so the labels are funchional as well.

For The Don Draper In Us All

This exceptional piece by John Kapel for Glenn of California features an extendable top for serving or bar use.  Just slide the top tray across and center it for extended serving surface.  Don Draper would definitely snatch this up!

Was so nice to be included in the Columbus Monthly Home and Garden article on antiques.  The shop had this full page photo and another smaller one.  It seems people really do read these....as the decanter has sold because of it!  Tim Johnson is a great photographer.  We are very appreciative to the magazine.

We hope that if you are hunting for a special item...that you will come to us.  We try to have good quality, fair prices  and unique finds.  Let us know what you are looking for and we wil look as well if we don't have it. You may take things on approval as well if you need to see the item in your own setting.

MID CENTURY MODERN

Mid Century Modern is the hot trend in decorating.  Many designer pieces around that can be quite expensive.  The coffee table and cedar lined chest are from LANE funiture...and are very reasonable.  Even a wine rack in walnut and interesting wooden based lamp with double shade.  Credenza in the background is very sleek and looks like new.  Make it your look...or try to add some into your existing decor.

What's Happening.....

What a winter we have had...the temperatures and the snow have made everyone so anxious to get out and get some fresh air.  There has been so much snow piled along the streets in the Short North, that getting from a parked car to the sidewalk is almost impossible.  The sidewalks have been cleared as good as they could be, but there is no where to go with some of the snow.  Today, Wednesday, there is a meltdown of sorts as the temperature rises.  The snow mounds are diminishing. During all of this bad weather, we have been able to get out some to keep things fresh in the store...especially the barware and accessories.  We hope you will stop in and check things out.  We are planning to go to the Mid Century Modern Show in Cincinnati this Sunday, so the shop will be closed.  Have never been to this show, but it has gotten great reviews.  It will be fun to see the designs, although many will be too expensive to purchase.  Just maybe though something will find its way back to the shop!!
